Drummohr Camping and Glamping Environmental Responsibilities
Here at Drummohr Camping & Glamping Site we take our environmental responsibility seriously since it increases our personal wellbeing. Our objective is to respect the landscape in which we are lucky enough to live and reduce our use of energy and water and our generation of waste. We are committed to helping our guests reduce the impact of their stay on the environment through the facilities and the information we provide.
Corporate Supporters of Scottish Wildlife Trust
We are corporate supporters of the Scottish Wildlife Trust. We have designed our site to ensure what we do compliments the Scottish landscape that surrounds our camping and glamping site.
Our beautifully landscaped site is surrounded by trees with lots of hedges and flower beds. You will also spot owls and red squirrels in the trees to the front of the site near our lodges.
We also have a dog walk on site with bug hotels and bat boxes so make sure to look out for them whilst you're exploring. To attract various birds, there are bird feeding stations located across our site.
David Bellamy Blooming Marvellous Pledge for Nature
We are participating in the David Bellamy Blooming Marvellous Pledge for Nature. It is an opportunity for holiday parks and camping sites to show the world how dedicated they are to helping Britain's wildlife. It's named after the late botanist and environmental campaigner, who worked tirelessly to get people out into the countryside and enjoy nature.
All parks that make the pledge commit themselves to:
- Improving their existing habitats for wildlife
- Creating new wildlife habitats and features where possible
- Managing their green space in as environmentally friendly a way as possible
- Involving their guests and staff in wildlife conservation
- Engaging with local conservation bodies and projects.
Clear Dark Skies
Stargazing in Edinburgh
Despite our site's close proximity to Edinburgh, we benefit from clear dark skies and there are plenty of spots to enjoy stargazing directly on site and in surrounding areas.
Stargazing spots in Edinburgh include:
- Arthur's Seat
- Calton Hill
- Blackford Hill
- Corstorphine Hill
Carbon Conscious Site
We are a carbon conscious site, most guests travel to Edinburgh by public transport using nearby train and bus links. With such convenient transport links, it is super easy to be carbon conscious when visiting our camping and glamping site. To learn more about visiting East Lothian without a car read our blog HERE.
