What is the Melville Retreat? 

Are you looking for a Luxury Self-Catering Cottage? Then look no further because we have exactly what you are looking for and more. Our Melville Retreat Self-Catering Luxury Cottage is the perfect getaway for couples and families. The Melville can accommodate up to 6 guests so a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children, with two twin bedrooms and a double room with its own en-suite. They’ll be enough room for all of you, our twin beds can be made into double beds at your request. We also have a family size luxurious bathroom with its very own rainwater shower and free-standing bath, Perfect for having a soak after a wonderful day out walking the outstanding coastline of East Lothian. Take a breath of fresh air whilst you sit out on the patio in the Melville’s enclosed garden, watching the children relax in the hot tub. Our open plan dining room/lounge is the perfect hang out for all the family, open the patio doors during the evening and watch the East Lothian dark skies.

When you visit Melville Retreat, you’ll be blown away by not only by the views of the coastline but also the amount there is to do here. For all you golf lovers we have the perfect place for you - The Royal Mussleburgh Golf Club is discounted for guests staying with us, please enquire at reception for more information. Take a trip to Mussleburgh Links Old Course, The world’s oldest golf course situated in the center of the famous Mussleburgh Race Course, take a step into history with the whole family. Blow off some steam and head to Dalkeith country park, Dalkeith is only a short drive away and has over 1,000 acres of history, walks, shopping, adventure, not to mention it has one of the best children’s playgrounds in the area! Perfect for tiring out those little legs and the adults legs too.  For all you walkers and cyclists, there are some great routes not only for the adults but for the children to, The John Muir Way is a long distance path from Dunbar in the East to Helensburgh in the west and passes within a few hundred yards of Drummohr. We all know it’s crucial to find somewhere nice to eat, whether you are looking for a takeaway to enjoy in our luxury cottage or you’d prefer to venture out. Here are some of our recommendations. All of these can be ordered online and delivered directly to our site or by using the Just eat app. The Tiger Inn is a perfect choice for an evening, a beautiful Chinese and Thai takeaway. For the most perfect fish and chips try Jaz’s Fish Bar and for delicious desserts Luca’s Ice Cream Parlor.

Wanting to eat out? Here are some great places to start with recommended by our team at Drummohr. Muss bar and Kitchen, they do the most delicious Haggis Bon-Bons - a must try! The David Macbeth Moir is perfect for traditional pub food with a great children’s menu.

Do you fancy a juicy steak cooked to perfection and a nice glass of wine? Then look no further than Buenos Aires Café and Grill.  

We have several local shops so if you want to cook up a feast, you’ll have ample space in the open plan kitchen with all the equipment you’ll need! Plenty of room to have a nice glass of wine and get your Gordan Ramsey head on

Here at Drummohr we pride ourselves on providing exceptional service! When going away on holiday, we know what it’s like to be let down, that’s why we don’t guarantee things we can’t be sure of, like the typical British weather! You’ll not only be getting a luxury self-catering cottage with private rear garden with wood fired BBQ oven and outdoor hot tub, but also free Wi-Fi, complimentary toiletries, towels and private parking directly outside of the Melville cottage. Everything you need is here at Drummohr, with a playground on site for the children and a small shop. 

We are very close to the shores of Firth of Forth and as you can imagine you’ll be getting some lovely shots whether at sunrise or sunset!

Our Melville Retreat Luxury Self-Catering Cottage is located in Levenhall on the outskirts of Mussleburgh, just 10 miles from Edinburgh Centre. This spectacular cottage is situated just outside of the entrance to Drummohr Camping and Glamping site, opposite our reception.
